How to Get your Baby to Sleep in a Crib when on Vacation
When going on vacation, you are probably going to either use a crib provided (eg. by a hotel) or you use a travel-cot / pack n play. It is probably not a good time to start sleep training, but if your baby has only recently been sleep trained using the sleep training technique described in this site (within the last few months), it is important not to upset the new routine that has been established. This means continuing with your regular routine as much as possible regarding the time your baby goes to sleep, bath, reading books, and so on. You will find the change of location much smoother if you can introduce the use of the travel-cot / pack n play while still at home. Try introducing it one week before your vacation during afternoon naps, and refer to it with your baby in the same manner as the regular crib. That way when you change surroundings to your temporary holiday home your baby is already used to sleeping in his/her temporary crib.
